Dr. Lee is a board certified gastroenterologist who specializes in all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disorders. He has a special interest in viral hepatitis and has dedicated his practice toward advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Education and Training
After graduating as valedictorian from high school in 1990, Dr. Lee was accepted into the Integrated B.A./M.D. Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He continued his medical education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with honors in 1997, and then came to California, where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at University of Southern California Medical Center. There, he was the recipient of the Best Resident Award in 1999, an honor voted by his peers. Dr. Lee then completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences/Harbor-UCLA Medical Center from 2000 to 2003, with special focus and research on pancreatico-biliary disorders and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He joined the South Bay Gastroenterology Medical Group in 2003, and has enjoyed private practice tremendously. With a keen interest in patient education and health awareness, Dr. Lee has been a strong proponent of colorectal cancer prevention and viral hepatitis management with frequent lectures to the South Bay community and healthcare providers. He has continued to champion novel treatment modalities for the patients, including new hemorrhoidal treatment techniques as well as being instrumental in establishing the protocol for fecal microbiota transplantation. In recent years, Dr. Lee has become an active member of the medical community with dedicated involvements in multiple committees at his hospitals. Since 2012, he has served multiple terms as the Chief of the Department of Medicine and Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. At Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, he is currently the Chair of the Gastroenterology Division and Medical Director of the GI Lab. In addition, Dr. Lee has also served many years as a clinical instructor in the Division of Gastroenterology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center/David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.He resides in the South Bay with his wife, Jessica, a Dentist Anesthesiologist, and their two children. He is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.
