Samir Kapadia, MD
Dr. Kapadia is a board certified gastroenterologist with expertise in the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. He has additional fellowship training in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He provides care with a compassionate patient-centered approach that fosters open dialogue and understanding.
Education and Training
Born and raised in the New York metropolitan area, Dr. Kapadia earned a degree in Biology from Rutgers University. He completed his medicine internship and residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook which is comprised of a large tertiary care university hospital and a Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Following residency, Dr. Kapadia spent one year as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine educating residents and practicing hospital medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital. He then completed his clinical gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the same institution. Dr. Kapadia received additional specialized fellowship training in advanced interventional therapeutic endoscopy at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. In addition to EGD (upper endoscopy) and colonoscopy, he is proficient in multiple advanced procedures such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for evaluation of pancreatic and biliary diseases, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) for nodules and complex polyps, Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett’s esophagus, and enteral stenting for a variety of indications.
Dr. Kapadia is passionate about understanding the natural history of GI diseases and the evolving role of advanced interventional therapeutic endoscopy in modern-day gastroenterology practice. During residency, Dr. Kapadia was awarded the Best Resident Research Award. In fellowship, he served as GI Radiology Chief Fellow and presented his original work on PPI Prescribing at the American College of Gastroenterology annual national conference. He was the coordinator of the Stony Brook Advanced Endoscopy Research Group during residency and fellowship. Dr. Kapadia has presented research at multiple regional and national conferences including the annual American College of Gastroenterology conference, Digestive Disease Week, and the New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy conferences. Dr. Kapadia has authored multiple publications in widely-recognized peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Kapadia is also fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
Dr. Kapadia is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Kapadia has medical staff privileges at Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Providence Little Company of Mary.
